We have expanded our earth leakage protection range with the addition of the ELRB-03 Type B Earth Leakage Relay, for applications including renewable energy, battery storage, EV charging and industrial power conversion.

As electrical installations increasingly incorporate inverters and other power electronic equipment, residual currents can take different forms. Detecting these requires a solution suited to the application.

The ELRB-03 detects AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents when used with a dedicated external residual current sensor, providing Type B detection for systems where smooth DC leakage may occur.

Adjustable to suit your application

Selectable trip levels from 0.1A to 3A and non-operating time delays from 0.1 to 10 seconds allow the relay to be configured to suit the installation’s protection requirements.

The ELRB-03 operates with an external residual current sensor, offered in 70mm, 120mm and 210mm apertures to accommodate different conductor arrangements.

Key features include:

  • Type B detection of AC, pulsating DC and smooth DC residual currents.
  • Adjustable sensitivity and time delay to suit the application.
  • Two relay outputs: Standard Output and Positive Safety Output.
  • Sensor open- and short-circuit detection to monitor the sensor connection.
  • Combined Test/Reset button for local operation.
  • 24–230V AC/DC auxiliary supply for integration into different control systems.

From solar PV and battery energy storage systems to EV charging equipment, UPS systems and variable-speed drives, power conversion technology brings additional demands for residual current detection.
